A large-scale global study provides additional information.
One of the most comprehensive safety assessments to date was conducted by the Global Vaccine Data Network. This extensive international collaboration analyzed health data from more than 99 million vaccinated individuals in eight countries, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, France, Denmark, Finland, New Zealand, and Scotland.
The findings, published in the journal Vaccine , provided valuable information for a better understanding of vaccine safety. Most participants in the analysis were between 20 and 59 years old, representing a large portion of the vaccinated population. The study included data from vaccines produced by Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, and AstraZeneca.
The researchers reported that certain rare adverse events were observed slightly more frequently than expected in specific groups. However, the study did not suggest that such events were widespread, nor did it conclude that the vaccines were unsafe. Instead, it reinforced the importance of continuous surveillance systems that record potential side effects over time.
