Robert was right.
Our daughter was diagnosed with a mild form of the same disease. The doctor said that if we had discovered it later, her condition could have become much more serious.
As we left the clinic, Emily took her grandfather’s hand.
“I knew you were helping me,” she said.
I looked at Robert, but I was too ashamed to speak. He didn’t accuse me and only said quietly:
“You’re her mother. You had every right to worry. But I should have told you everything from the start.”
From that day on, there were no more secrets in our house.
However, I never deleted the recording from the camera.
I saved it not because something terrible happened in it, but because in the last scene, a frightened grandfather was kneeling in front of his granddaughter and whispering:
“I couldn’t help your grandmother in time, but I won’t repeat the same mistake with you.”
