The origins of superstitions
Long before science explained natural phenomena, people turned to stories to understand the unknown.
Unexpected illnesses, crop failures, storms, or accidents often seemed impossible to predict. Without modern knowledge, communities created explanations based on spirits, luck, curses, or divine intervention.
Over generations, these explanations evolved into traditions.
Many warnings originally had practical purposes:
- Avoid walking alone at night.
- Respect sacred places
- Handle fire with care
- Protect the food supply
- Show respect to your elders.
Over time, practical advice became mixed with mythology, creating superstitions that last to this day.
